April Showers

It is hardest to wait for the warm weather once April is here in the Midwest. We get a couple of warm days, but then it becomes cold and rainy again. This is the time, however, that the spring bulbs begin to open, and eventually the warm weather comes around for good. We just need a little patience. When I was a kid, we had fragrant trees and bulbs near my bedroom window. On those warmer days, as I opened the window to let in the fresh air, the scent of Honeysuckle, Mock Orange, and Lily of the Valley would waft into the room. Later on, the Lilacs would bloom and release their delicious aroma. Along the front of the house, the tulips and daffodils would burst into bright patches of color.

It was a special time, a reminder that school would soon be out and the summer vacation would begin.
